I recently completed a course at Baxter Clewis Training Academy, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Despite their promises, the academy failed to deliver on key commitments made to both me and my fellow students. The training was not up to the expected standard, and the overall quality was lacking. Given the high cost of the program, the value received did not meet the expectations set. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Baxter Clewis Training Academy to anyone. There are certainly better options available that offer more for your money.
The training on PCI DSS was particularly disorganized, making it difficult to follow and ultimately failing to justify the significant cost. Moreover, the academy did not deliver on their promise of providing interview opportunities, leaving many of us unprepared and frustrated. Overall, the experience did not meet the expectations set by the academy, and I would not recommend it to anyone. The price paid was not reflective of the value received, and there are better options available elsewhere

I enrolled in Baxter Clewis Academy with high hopes of launching a successful Cybersecurity career. Unfortunately, my experience fell significantly short of expectations. The program's curriculum, while focused on PCI, lacked the depth and hands-on application necessary for real-world roles. The advertised promise of six-figure positions without prior experience proved to be misleading.

The program's structure was disorganized, with multiple staff changes causing confusion and setbacks. Furthermore, the absence of a certification at the conclusion of the course is a significant oversight. Given the substantial financial investment, I anticipated a more comprehensive and valuable educational experience.

The academy's claims of providing access to all materials were inaccurate, as additional fees were required for new content. This resulted in unexpected and ongoing expenses. Moreover, the program's financial structure, involving high monthly payments, places a considerable financial burden on students long term. Do your research and be cautious before spending thousands on this program!

I joined the program 9/2021, expecting to secure a six-figure role within six months. Despite following the program outline, attending all live calls, and making significant sacrifices, my experience was extremely disappointing.

The program promised hands-on experience but fell short. Success coaches lacked depth in PCI material, often reciting information without practical application. When I asked questions, I was directed to the Slack community, which made me uncomfortable and led to countless hours of self-study.

Project availability was delayed for months, and when projects finally appeared, I received no feedback, and they disappeared without follow-up. This inactivity contradicted my commitment and hindered my progress.

The program's structure and delivery did not justify the $10,000 cost

Now I’m not going to sit here and dunk all over Baxter Clewis, but I’m not going to say it’s the greatest thing in the world. I’m going to point out the positives, disappointments, and the whatevers. And this is MY experience. I can’t speak for anyone else.

The Good:

I had a really great success advisor who helped me get through the program.

I did learn about the PCI DSS model in depth and learned about the world of GRC.

I had the chance to get my resume redone.

The course is broken down into four sections and hand holds you through everything.

Even though I had my resume supercharged twice, the second time it came out, it looked fantastic, and I still use it to this day.

You do get Linkedin spot checks, and you get a Q&A call to ask questions.

The Whatever:

There’s mindset training/motivational videos and you can journal how you’re feeling. I’m a self-disciplined person so this was something I “had to do.” If you get use out of it good for you, but for me, I could have done without it.

The Disappointing:

This course was designed for IT guys like me who want to level up their career. However, I met very few people working in the tech field. Most people were looking to make a career change into tech. While that is ok, this was not the place to start. And because there were so many non-tech people, I felt it clogged up the opportunity for men and women like myself to ask questions.

The biggest thing the school pushes is an internship where you get to work on an actual PCI DSS assessment. I was repeatedly told that the internship was incredibly important, and you had to take it seriously. For the first half, I showed up, missed time with my infant daughter to go to meetings, and dedicated a lot of my time for when we had deliverables. Halfway through, I realized it was a big waste of time and there was no point. We weren’t getting paid, not getting graded, we weren’t even getting feedback on the work we turned in. And all the important work we were doing equated to essentially was filling out excel spreadsheets. The people running the internship were doing the actual pci work.

Finally, I did have a chance to speak to someone who came from Baxter Clewis, and he told me we only did maybe 6-12% of the amount of work that goes on in an actual assessment. I did have the chance to keep going in the internship, but I asked to leave. Time with my family was more important than doing things that don’t matter in the long run.

The whole work in cybersecurity in 90 days means you should finish your course work in 90 days then you get into the internship. While in the internship you are “working in cybersecurity.” So yes they are technically correct, but don’t expect a six figure job waiting for you at the end of the 90 days.

Bottom Line

What made this course so disappointing was the price. I paid $10,000.00 for essentially a bunch of Youtube videos and an “internship” which was essentially a glorified study session at times. If the price was cheaper, I wouldn’t be writing this review. There are so many free or cheaper courses out there. That is the better path to go.

However, Boyd has taken the course over again and is more hands on so I’m hoping things go in a better direction.

I’ll leave you with this, if you have no tech experience, I DO NOT recommend coming here. This is advanced cybersecurity. The thought of “no certs, no experience, and six figure job in 90 days" is completely laughable. Go learn the basics, work on a help desk, and build a foundation, then maybe come back and take this course.

And if you’re seeing all the other reviews and how positive they are, they’re all written by people that are currently IN the program. They all talk about how great the program goes, but nobody ever says “Baxter Clewis helped me get my current six figure role.” I wrote one halfway through thinking about my potential future, and now I’m out $10,000.00 with nothing to show but a cheap certificate saying I completed his training academy. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Not worth the time and money.

Very unprofessional
My experience with Baxter Clewis Training Academy (BCTA) was highly disappointing due to several misrepresentations and unauthorized practices.

The misrepresentation of program authorization and the unauthorized use of PCI-DSS materials are serious concerns and led me to believe the program was invalid especially for that cost. Most programs of a similar type/price point are will at least provide an exam voucher, well known industry-backed certifications and direct contacts for job opportunities. This program does nothing to adequately prepare you for the job market.

I've Been Told I Don't Fit the Job: From Out of Date to Up to Speed—Reinventing Myself Again, but for the Last Time!

Review:

I've been in the shoes of those who've felt discarded, told they don't fit the job because they're not up to speed with the latest trends. It's a tough blow, especially when you're competing against younger candidates. But rejection didn't define me; it fueled my determination to reinvent myself—for the sixth and final time.

After a series of disappointing job offers, I stumbled upon Baxter Clueless Academy while searching for ways to support my family. The transparency and no-nonsense approach of their program struck a chord with me. It was a breath of fresh air in a world filled with empty promises and fluff.

What sets Baxter apart is its direct, no-chaser approach. The material is cogent and relevant, tailored to meet your needs and pace. It's not for everyone, but if you're seeking hope and a chance to prove yourself, this is the place to thrive.

I urge anyone feeling stuck or undervalued to give Baxter a chance. As I've learned through my own journey, when my wife, who had been unemployed for two years, looked me straight in the eye and reminded me what's at stake. What's at stake is just everything. And she said, 'Honey, I need you to get it up one more time, even when it feels impossible.' This resonated deeply with me, fueling my determination to press on, no matter the obstacles.

So if you're searching for a way out, a glimmer of hope, don't hesitate to explore Baxter Clueless Academy. It's not just a chance for a new career; it's a chance for a new beginning. Don't let doubt hold you back. Take the leap, and grab hold of the ring with both hands.

I wish you all success in your journey, whether you choose to join me on this path or not. Remember, it's never too late to rewrite your story and pursue your dreams.

God bless.

If I could give less than one star, I would. I was in this "training academy" in 2022. I gave them my savings and got not lick of instruction, training, nor even a skill (other than manipulation) in return. When I had questions about the course work, which consisted of Baxter being on video telling us about how he handled a meeting, I was told to ask the other students. When I went to my coach/counselor for assistance, I would either not get a reply or be told to Google the information. The course work was so terrible. It was reminiscent of a poorly written Udemy course with only 3 course chapters in all. No shade to Udemy. At least I've actually learned something in the Udemy courses. Then when I had not gotten a job after 6 months, they booted me from the academy when I missed one payment. I cannot get a job because when the recruiters see Baxter Clewis on my resume, they toss it in the trash. I would not wish this "training academy" onto my worst enemy.
